Dùn View - St Kilda
The Story
It is not easy to put into words just how special a trip to St Kilda is. The remote, rustic and majestic vistas there are on a truly epic scale. Dùn (which simply seems "fort" in Scottish Gaelic) is a steep sided island which is almost connected to the main island, Hirta and is home to the largest colony of fulmars in Britain. The curved stone wall in the foreground of this image perfectly leads your eye towards Dùn, almost as if they were joined together and creates a real sense of depth.
